How It Works
The FLEX XC 3401 VRG Orbital Polisher removes deeper swirls and scratches that no other dual action polisher can. Unlike conventional dual action polishers, the 3401 uses a ratchet and gear tooth design, rather than a counterweight and eccentric offset, to create the two separate polishing motions. This geared mechanism creates a more powerful forced-rotation motion that cuts through harder paints, and corrects deeper scratches and defects that other dual action machines cannot. Quickly cut away defects to restore gloss, reflection, and shine in one step. The 3401 combines the speed and correction power of a rotary polisher with the safety and ease of use of a dual action machine. Remove swirls and scratches from hard ceramic clear coat paint finishes found on high end German cars with the FLEX 3401. Detailing professionals and enthusiasts can easily repair and remove defects that would require great skill with a rotary polisher with the FLEX 3401. Switch out the backing plates to easily accept 5.5 or 6.5 buffing pads, finishing wax and glaze pads, or carpet and upholstery brushes and accessories. The FLEX 3401 ships with a 6 backing plate for using large 6.5 buffing and polishing pads for fast correction on any vehicle. Choose the FLEX XC 3401 VRG Orbital Polisher for fast, easy, and powerful defect and scratch removal on any vehicle.
Powerful Orbital Polishing Correction
The FLEX XC 3401 combines the best of both worlds: the power and speedy correction of a rotary polisher with the ease of use and safety of a dual action polisher. Normal rotary machines spin all the power off a single axis, and generate maximum friction and correction power on paintwork. Dual action polishers spin the buffer head off a counterweight to create an eccentric motion, or throw, that dissipates heat for a safer buffing job on paint. The FLEX XC 3401 VRG uses a gear and tooth mechanism that ties the rotation and oscillation movements into one powerful motion. This fast-acting machine dissipates heat as it works to safely remove paint without burning the finish, but the direct gear drive transfers more machine power into the workpiece for a deeper and faster paint correction. Use the powerful polishing correction power to remove scratches, swirls, and defects from all types of paint finishes, including hard ceramic clear coat finishes, conventional clear coats, single stage paints, and more. Remove scratches to restore clarity, reflection, and bright color to any painted finish. Remove scratches and swirls from clear optical plastic for perfect clarity or light transmission on plastic windows, headlights, or tail lights. Choose the FLEX XC 3401 VRG Orbital Polisher for fast correction on any vehicle.
Intuitive Variable Trigger Controls
The FLEX XC 3401 VRG Dual Action Orbital Polisher delivers unmatched power with a convenient and intuitive variable speed trigger. At full trigger squeeze, the machine spins at the maximum rated output of the speed setting selected. FLEX designers also incorporated a convenient lock button to hold the trigger for reduced fatigue during longer polishing sessions. However, unlike other random orbital buffers, easing off the trigger slows down the buffer. This unique feature gives detailers more control by tailoring the perfect amount of machine power for smaller, more contoured, or sensitive areas. Use a full trigger squeeze for full power at any given speed setting, or adjust trigger pressure for precise control with less power or slower startups. Every paint job is different, and every polishing session must be adjusted to suit the particular car. Professional detailers and hardcore enthusiasts need the flexibility to adjust for perfect results on any vehicle. Choose the FLEX XC 3401 VRG Orbital Polisher for extended polishing techniques with more (or less) power than a standard dual action machine.
Versatile Detailing Tool
The FLEX XC 3401 VRG Orbital Polisher performs multiple detailing jobs quickly and safely. Polish paint to remove swirls, scratches, water spots, or oxidation with the FLEX 3401. Use either 5 or 6 backing plate to polish larger panels or smaller contours with 5.5 or 6.5 Hex Logic or Black Optics Microfiber buffing and polishing pads. Attach any DA carpet brush to scrub and clean dirt and stains from carpets, cloth, and upholstery inside or outside any automobile. Attach a soft foam finishing pad to spread the perfect coat of glaze, sealant, or wax after a full paint correction job. The possibilities are endless! Invest in the FLEX XC 3401 VRG for versatile detailing power inside or outside any automobile.
How Does The FLEX XC3401 VRG Compare To The Porter Cable 7424XP?
The Porter Cable 7424 XP has a speed dial that is the only means of adjusting the speed. The Flex buffer has a speed dial which sets the maximum speed you can reach with the variable speed trigger. Hold the trigger down lightly and it will operate at low OPMs and squeeze it tightly to reach the maximum OPMs relative to what speed you have the dial on. If you want the buffer to operate at the maximum OPMs, relative to what you set the speed dial to, you can lock in the trigger so you don't have to continuously hold it. The Flex XC 3401 VRG has over 40% more power than the Porter Cable 7424 (9,600 OPMs vs. 6,800 OPMs) and a bigger motor. This allows the Flex buffer to give you more cutting power to remove deeper imperfections. The additional power will help ensure your buffer will not bog down under moderate to heavy pressure. Both buffers have a detachable handle, but the Flex's bail handle is positioned directly over the buffer as opposed to on the side. The design of the buffer puts your hands at 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock, so your hands are equidistant from the middle of the buffer, which helps you evenly distribute pressure. The even distribution of pressure really helps you work in the polish and get optimal results with ease.
